Thanks to TwistLock™ and FlexSoft™ technologies. I always struggled to take these guys seriously cos I've been using FL for so long with minimal complaints and especially recently, FL has become so much better at live recording, I use it every day for this exact thing. I KEEP getting into fights with people who try to tell me that FL is 'trash' for audio recording and that something like Ableton or ProTools is miles ahead in this area. Ok not continuously but on and off and then solidly since FL8. I've used FL Studio since version 1 back in the 90s. I also basically just record guitars and vocals then use VST's for everything else so seems relevant - I also wear every single hat on the production spectrum. While I can't really help with your question directly, just some perspective from me trying out new DAWs recently too. I think worth mentioning is that, for my budget, the battle is between Ableton 11 STANDARD, not the Suite, and the full Studio One 5 PRO, cause I can get them with the student discount and the prices are similar.Īs for the kinds of music I am making and my workflow, when it comes to recording it’s just my voice and guitars, and the rest of the instrumentals it’s all VSTs. I know there is no perfect DAW, just wanted to hear some more arguments from each side and maybe less biased opinions from people who got to use both of them. It's giving me the vibe of a Pro Tools x FL mash-up, which would be great for my taste, but seen people complaining about its stability and all around functionalities, the midi editor for example. I've seen people saying Ableton is becoming the "other DAWs killer" and others saying it's just an "hobbyist DAW with a professional price tag" and how all the new great features have been integrated in other DAWs years prior.Ībout Studio One, I've seen it in action in a studio once, looked pretty neat and all that. My question is: which of these two should I choose? I'd like something that would feel more, let's say, professional. All this in FL Studio, no complaints really, but I just feel the need to switch and try a new DAW. But in the end this comes just from a matter of habbit, I guess.I am an independent artist and I am currently doing it all by myself: composing, producing, recording, arranging, mixing and mastering. So what I want to say: you have to keep in mind that when it comes to testing another DAW there can always be some kind of mind barrier, which trys to tell you that "it is not right". maybe some days or weeks at most and then I was even faster in my workflow than I was in the DAW I used 15 years before that. But when I suddenly switched (again: in my case Reaper) I immediately felt how right it was for me. I thought I could never switch, because I was just to deep into using this single DAW. So one should also check this out for sure! (- Īfter working in only one single DAW for around 15 years, it was very hard for me to even only try another DAW. And what he tells me about it also sounds very interesting. The there is Bitwig, which a mate of mine uses and loves a lot. I think I liked it as well, but not 100% - again: according to my personal workflow needs. I think I also tested Studio One in the beginning 2020, when I was open to switch my DAW. I am honest here: I have not that much experience with other DAWs. Reaper also does not cost so much and the trial policy is basically WinRAR in as a DAW. With Reaper it's updated after just a few seconds. With my slow internet connection this was no fun. Updates are frequent and just 13 mb installers, while with FL I always had to download aaaaall the content inside the installer and it was around 1 GB. The difference is just that FL can play stuff without even the slightes delay, while there is a tiny delay after pressing play in Reaper. Also there is some pre-buffering magic going on under the hood making the DAW a bit more performant compared to FL. Internally Reaper feels extremely solid and stable to me. Reaper on the other side feels like you can have everything - even if there might be something which is not being supported natively, there is probably a script out there or (if you are a bit nerdy like me) you can write your own to suit your needs. For example: FL can be nice to have something with which you can just start making music out of the box. It totally depends on the own workflow and needs. It is THE best DAW for my personal workflow! I should have switched way earlier, but to be honest: I do not want to say that any DAW is bad or good. I worked in FL Studio for around 15 years. Reaper - here is why / my personal experience so far: Note that, if a default state is set, resetting the graph through the UI will result in the calculator's degreeMode matching the mode of that state, regardless of this option. The insecurities, then, are the Enemy of Love and Romance, the true villain of the story, even if there is a meddlesome third party character thrown in there too. The boy thinks he’s not worthy of the girl because of his issue the girl thinks she’s unlovable because of her thing or maybe it’s the other way around. They are not only challenges that must be overcome for love to win, but they also actively block love and cause misunderstanding at some point. In most romances-maybe even all of them-the protagonists’ insecurities serve as stumbling blocks to the romantic plot. Smile and her sisters share the coolest loft-style bedroom. At its heart, this is a tale about a young love that is made possible by an old love and by the fusing of millennial culture and ancient Japanese artistry. Instead, the film’s strengths lie in the way that it underplays the usual dramatic tension of the romance plot, and shifts the focus onto the theme of poetic harmony (the core of traditional Japanese storytelling or kishotenketsu), especially between generations and between modern life and tradition. But this isn’t the only thing, or even the main thing, that makes this film such a rewarding watch. Smile and Cherry, our girl and boy, would fare very well in this kind of reviewers’ test. Usually, the relative strength or weakness of the romance plot hinges on the winsomeness of the MCs: is the girl a unique and refreshing take on the Quirky Girl trope? Is the boy’s particular brand of awkwardness heart-warming? Are their insecurities both relatable and under-represented enough in the genre to warrant watching? The premise of the movie is pretty standard: boy meets girl each has their own insecurities summer months roll by as they draw closer to one another, culminating in a dramatic confession scene. But this actually speaks to the kind of harmony between opposites that lies at the heart of this story… (Incidentally, the masterful composer Kensuke Ushio, of A Silent Voice fame, did the soundtrack for both of these last two projects as well as Words Bubble Up Like Soda Pop.)Īt first these two styles may seem at odds. The boldness of the visual palette contrasts with the fineness of the line work and the use of kagenashi-or shadowless, almost flat color design, a style the studio adopts in Mars Redtoo, and which is reminiscent of Liz and the Blue Birdand Japan Sinks 2020. The human eye takes about twenty minutes to adjust to new color palettes, so if at first you find it a bit much, just hang in there because you’re about to be blown away by the movie’s vision of a world so full of color you can taste it. The haiku film takes the popping color scheme of the studio’s earlier works like FLCL Progressiveand The Wonderland, and turns the hue saturation up to 110%, electrifying the visuals like neon lights. Words Bubble Up Like Soda Pop comes to us from studio Signal.MD, a relative newcomer (spun off from Production I.G) with a nevertheless diverse portfolio. Haiku explode typical grammar patterns and common clichés in a search for new ways of expressing the beauty of nature, and this is exactly what this movie, from Your Lie in April director Kyohei Ishiguro, does for the romance anime, both in its plot and its art. This use of haiku is not simply a way of flagging up the lyrical idiosyncrasy of one of the main characters though it also foreshadows the very nature of the movie itself as a creative work born of unexpected juxtapositions-a whole that represents more than the sum of its parts. The title, Words Bubble Up Like Soda Pop, is a haiku, the 17 th century poetic form consisting of seventeen syllables written in three lines of five, seven, and five syllables. It lets you take advantage of the Smart Sole forgiveness a little farther from the green.”Īll three Smart Sole 4 wedges feature CNC-milled grooves that are sharper and more aggressive than previous models. “So to fill that hole in their setup, we added a 50-degree Smart Sole. “Once a player goes to a Smart Sole, they really don’t want to go back to butter-knife blade wedges,” says Fodera. The newest member of the clan is the G, or gap wedge. Each wedge has a specific purpose: the C is a chipper, and the S is a sand wedge. “There’s always that group – whether it’s ego or tradition or just misunderstanding – they not only get mad at us, they get mad at people who buy the product.”Ĭleveland’s Smart Sole 4 is a lineup of super wide-flanged specialty wedges to help with those shots that transform Todd and others like him from a normal human being into a pea-soup vomiting, head-spinning, satanically possessed 13-year-old girl. “They’re very polarizing,” says Cleveland Wedge Specialist James Fodera of the Smart Sole line. But a fat or skulled sand shot or chili-dipped chip turns him into Linda Blair from The Exorcist in half a heartbeat. He plays golf maybe once a week during the summer and leads a rich, full life that doesn’t lend itself to hours of practice.īy most reasonable metrics, Todd is Opie Taylor-level likable. His wife rates him as acceptable 53% of the time, which is above average on the Husband Quality Index. My friend Todd, for instance, is a hard worker and solid citizen who’s earning his place in Heaven by fostering unwanted dogs. It doesn’t suggest cowardice or weak character either, no matter what Torch & Pitchfork Nation says. Using clubs that make some of golf’s most challenging and frustrating shots easier isn’t a federal crime. The Get Lessons! and the you-can’t-buy-a-game crowds always get their undies in a wad over the Smart Sole sand wedges, and don’t get them started on the Chipper. I don’t get the hate for wedges like the Cleveland Smart Sole 4. The Smart Sole 4 wedges are the latest iterations of Cleveland’s take on a polarizing, but silly-easy to use short game solution. The CBX Full-Face wedges are an extension of Cleveland’s successful CBX game-improvement wedges, offering a high-toe option to the GI golfer. If you play Game Improvement irons, why play Tour-style wedges? That mindset is the driving force behind both of today’s releases: the Cleveland Smart Sole 4 and the CBX Full-Face wedges. Cleveland Golf has long said that 84% of us are doing it wrong. |
